Blessed Sabbath Church Family,
Fall is here and we may not get enough sunshine these next few months. Our bodies could be lacking vitamin D.
Vitamin D has many roles in the body and is essential for optimal health. For example, it instructs the cells in your gut to absorb calcium and phosphorus – two minerals that are essential for maintaining strong and healthy bones.
On the other hand, low vitamin level has been linked to serious health consequences, including osteoporosis, cancer, depression, muscle weakness, or even death.
When you take that walk, your body gains from the exercise. Did you know you bring happiness to your body when you walk? Exercise, sunlight, and being around greenery and water in nature are all associated with significant increases in serotonin levels.
Some of the benefits include increased cardiovascular and pulmonary (heart and lung) fitness, reduced risk of heart diseases and stroke, improved management of conditions such as hypertension (high blood pressure); high cholesterol; joint; and muscular pain or stiffness; and diabetes, stronger bones, improved balance, increased muscle strength and endurance, and reduced body fat.
But there is also a spiritual benefit to getting outdoors. We can see that when Christ was on this Earth, He knew the benefits of His own creation and put them to good use.
“Christ loved to gather the people about Him under the blue heavens, on some grassy hillside, or on the beach beside the lake. Here, surrounded by the works of His own creation, He could turn their thoughts from the artificial to the natural. In the growth and development of nature were revealed the principles of His kingdom. As men should lift their eyes to the hills of God and behold the wonderful works of His hand, they could learn precious lessons of divine truth. In future days the lessons of the Divine Teacher would thus be repeated to them by the things of nature. The mind would be uplifted, and the heart would find rest.” – Ministry of Healing
May God Bless your journey to good health,
Sandra Torres
