Blessed Sabbath, Church Family,
Today I was thinking about how good it is to laugh with friends or loved ones. We hear that laughter is good for the soul. And if that’s true, we can be sure there are health benefits from having a full good-hearted laugh.
Laughter decreases stress hormones and increases immune cells and infection- fighting antibodies, thus improving your resistance to disease. Laughter triggers the release of endorphins. These are the body's natural feel-good chemicals, which promote an overall sense of well-being and temporary pain relief.
I think laughter is a gift from God. Laughter is how we can see and hear happiness. It can make your joy visible and audible. What does the bible say about laughter?
Job 8:21: “He will once again fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy.”
Psalm 30:11: “You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing. You have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy.”
Proverbs 15:13: “A glad heart makes a happy face; a broken heart crushes the spirit.”
“Christians should be the most cheerful and happy people that live. They may have the consciousness that God is their Father and their everlasting Friend. But many professed Christians do not correctly represent the Christian religion. They appear gloomy, as if under a cloud.” (MYP 363)
Let us not let go of joy and laughter, it is good for our mind and our body. Joy and laughter are a testimony to the love of God in each of our lives. May God bless your journey to good health.
Your Sister in Christ,
Sandra Torres
