Health Message (October 03, 2026)
Good Sabbath, Church Family,
Have you ever been asked why Seventh Day Adventist promote a meatless diet and claim to have a health message? I have been asked questions about our beliefs myself. I searched for a way to present a good understanding to others, and found myself reading of the health message in a way that represents God’s personal love for His people.
The Seventh-day Adventist health message is based on our belief that God cares about the physical, mental and spiritual well-being of His people, and that He has given us principles of healthful living through the Bible and the writings of Ellen White. The health message is seen as an integral part of the gospel, because it helps people to experience God’s love and grace in their lives, and to prepare for His soon coming.
Ellen White wrote: "The Saviour ministered to both the soul and the body. The gospel which He taught was a message of spiritual life and of physical restoration. Deliverance from sin and the healing of disease were linked together."
Therefore, the health message is not just a set of rules or recommendations, but a way of honoring God with our bodies and sharing His love with others. Ellen White wrote, “Marvelous will be the transformation wrought in him who by faith opens the door of the heart to the Saviour.” Such transformation enhances the use of common sense to follow the basic principles of life—the laws of health.
Finally, a relational experience with God, built on trust, faith, and confidence in His presence, adds a sparkle of motivational and inspirational energy. “With the power and light that God imparts, you can comprehend more and accomplish more than you ever before deemed possible.” Here, one finds the heart of the Seventh-day Adventist health message—a motivational and inspirational framework for God’s mission in the world. We have a wonderful message that can transform health and life, lets us be used by God to enlighten the lives of others!
