Health Message (August 17, 2024)

Updated: Sep 14

Good Sabbath Church Family,

Alcohol is a very thought-controlling and addictive substance. Not only does it slowly entangle you into addiction, but it is also damaging to your body.

Did you know that alcohol causes cancer? A new study shows just how much of a risk drinking can be. At least 4% of the world's newly diagnosed cases of esophageal, mouth, larynx, colon, rectum, liver, and breast cancers in 2020. Or 741,300 people can be attributed to drinking alcohol, according to a study in the July 13 edition of Lancet Oncology. Men accounted for three-quarters of alcohol-related cancers. Of the 172,600 alcohol-related cancer cases diagnosed in women, the vast majority, or 98,300 cases were breast cancer.

"Tobacco and liquor stupefy and defile the user. But the evil does not stop here. He transmits irritable tempers, polluted blood, enfeebled intellects, and weak morals to his children, and renders himself accountable for all the evil results that his wrong and dissipated course of life brings upon his family and the community. The race is groaning under a weight of accumulated woe, because of the sins of former generations. And yet with scarcely, a thought or care, men and women of the present generation indulge intemperance by surfeiting and drunkenness, and thereby leave, as a legacy for the next generation, disease, and enfeebled intellects, and polluted morals." (Alcohol, 4T 30, Ellen White)

2 Peter 1:5-6, "And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patients; and to patience godliness."

May God bless your journey to good health.

Your Sister in Christ,

Sandra Torres
